Dek: Canada.ca’s own Feb 2026 release: more than $25.5B overall since 2022, including $8.5B military. Opposing war funding is not opposing shelter and medicine for civilians.
Ottawa’s own numbers. Not a Telegram meme. Not a partisan spreadsheet.
On February 24, 2026, the Government of Canada reaffirmed “unwavering support” for Ukraine four years into Russia’s full-scale invasion. The release’s cumulative framing: more than $25.5 billion in multifaceted assistance since 2022 — including $8.5 billion in military assistance. Same package: about $2 billion more military for FY 2026–27 under Prime Minister Carney ($1.75B from Budget 2025 + $300M new), Op UNIFIER renewed toward 2029, more armour, more sanctions talk.
On June 16, 2026, the PMO readout of Carney’s meeting with President Zelenskyy claimed $2.8 billion in military assistance “this year alone.”
(Flag: an older DND campaign page, content disclaimer last updated December 2025, still listed military commitment at $6.5 billion “through to 2029.” Prefer the newer Canada.ca news release for the $8.5B cumulative military figure; note the lag if challenged.)
Split the categories or you’re lying with their tables
GAC’s Ukraine development page breaks the money into lanes Canadians can actually argue about:
Military / lethal & capability support — weapons, ammo, armour, drones, training, Op UNIFIER, NATO packages → ~$8.5B (Feb 2026 framing). This is the war-funding receipt.
Direct financial / fiscal support to Kyiv’s government (loans, IMF Administered Account, MDBs, G7 ERA share) → >$13 billion.
Humanitarian since Jan 2022 → >$427 million (UN, Red Cross, NGOs shelter, food, health, WASH).
Recovery / reconstruction / development → >$741 million.
Eaglemaplesky stance stays proof-first: OK with real humanitarian aid. Oppose tax money to endless war. Ottawa’s own tables already split them. Do not lump the $427M humanitarian into “war funding” and pretend the primary said that. Do not claim Canadian money went into “Zelensky’s pockets as cash — Canadian flows are military kit, loans via IMF/MDBs, and partner-delivered humanitarian. Critique the military and fiscal war-enabling lanes with the URLs open.
Carney continuity is the habit-voter hook
Liberals under Carney are still announcing multi-billion military packages and “long haul” language. That is not vibes. That is Canada.ca and the PMO. The same households choosing heat or groceries — qualitative, lived, no fake invented poverty percentage required — watch Ottawa write another military cheque.
If you still vote Liberal or NDP out of habit, ask whose war gets the multi-billion line while the till at home runs empty.
Still fine with “unwavering” abroad?
